While we all have our personal opinions about the Pope, I feel that it would be very unwise for Hindus to protest against him during his forthcoming visit to the US.

What we need now is to make friends, not enemies. We all know that the entire world is fighting a war against terror. Here terror means Islam. As Hindus we also know that we are not very good at fighting wars...not with Muslims, anyway...as it is obvious from looking at the present map of India...how it has shrurk from its original size! Where there were Hindu kingdoms, there now exists Islamic fiefdoms.

If any organized outfit is capable of fighting terror, it is the Christian Church. Therefore, we need to be on their side i. e. WITH THEM -not against them.

Having said this, please let me appeal to those amongst us who are planning to take part in the protest: kindly refrain from doing it in the name of HINDUS. Majority of the Hindus are against this protest.

Our enemies (and we have a lot of them) are watching us, especially the Indian Christians. Those of us who live in this country live with the understanding that although Secularism is practiced at all levels of the Government, this is a Christian country founded on Christian principles. I am not aware of any instances where Hindus have been persecuted in the name of religion by the majority community here. We have temples mushrooming all around us, there is no interference from local or federal authorities and I see no reason why we should be labelled as anti-Christian.

I hope other like-minded folks will speak out. The last thing that we need is another enemy.
